She looks at him and shrugs, "What is a kiss if there is nothing behind it? If it is simply the act of pressed lips then I see no cause for alarm. But to loose points. I do not even know what they are for yet part of me longs for more!"

Special new year food... That's amazing. Marco always used to take the variety of food back home for granted, but after seeing how many different kinds of ingredients and dishes exist in other worlds, he's gotten kind of jealous.]

Yeah... Same here. [Even if alcohol was pretty tricky to get in Jinae. No, maybe it's because it was tricky to get that everyone saved it for special occasions like the new year.]

[It's right about this time that Haruka arrives back in the Flame building and trudges up the stairs, a plastic bag of vegetables dangling from his fingertips. Haruka gives the two people blocking the entrance to the kitchen a flat stare.

...Can this guy get any more annoying? Of course Jean is the sort who can't keep it in his pants. If Jean is going to bring a girl home, would it kill him to wait until they get to the bedroom before making out? Heck, Haruka would be content if they just did it somewhere where it isn't blocking his path to the kitchen.

Haruka is not cleaning their egg mess, either.]

[To be fair, they made it at least a few steps into the kitchen...but still not far enough that they aren't blocking the way for anyone who would want to cook in a family-friendly atmosphere.

Jean starts to pull away from Utena, both startled and annoyed by the interruption, and it is in this precise moment that the mistletoe's spell wears off. Like waking up from a nap - at first in a daze, and then gaining awareness all at once - he realizes that he's been macking on someone who is his friend (who happens to be a cute girl, but that's a little beside the point right now). Um. Uh. Cue his face turning a deep shade of mortification. He lets go of her and steps backward, nearly slipping on the splattered contents of one of the dropped eggs, and his eyes bounce between her and Haruka, caught between spewing apologies to Utena and telling him off.]

I didn't-- Shut up! [It looks like his very jumbled emotions have settled on anger for now, thrown at Haruka.] It's not like I planned for this to happen!

[(Just picked out some random date that isn't too far from Jude's intro...! If you want another one, feel free to change it.)

Anyway-- After being in Luceti for a little while and getting more or less used to its environment, Jude send Jean a message regarding their promise of hitting up the Battle Dome together. Once he gets the okay from him, he heads on over there, ready to practice some martial arts! And see whatever neat fighting technique Jean has too, since he is still awfully curious about that.

His excitement brings him there a little early as well, so whenever Jean arrives, he'll find Jude sitting outside already.]

[...Yeah, okay, so she's a little weird.]

I hear this Christmas holiday is big on presents, so I'm guessing it has something to do with that. [And based on what he's heard about Santa, stalking people and keeping track of their activities to form a basis for their worthiness is another big part of the holiday. Messed up, if you ask him.]

...It doesn't sound that different.

[Not the drunk part, though, being underage and all.

Pulling off the shrimp's legs with his left hand, he uses the chopsticks in his right to assist in peeling the shrimp's shell.]

[It's less a question and more a statement he'd like affirmation of.]

[Well. The legal drinking age is stupidly low where they're from. Probably as compensation for telling a kid that twelve is a perfectly reasonable age to decide that you're going to give your life up for humanity. But, you know, whatever.

He's totally eyeing Haruka's shrimp peeling technique. Asshole makes it look so easy...]

There isn't an ocean. As far as anyone knows, anyway.

[But he's got the meat of his shrimp free now, and he's hesitantly taking a bite. The flavor is strong and fishy, which he's starting to get used to, but sweet too.]

[And here comes Jean, bundled up in his cloak and with the 3D maneuver gear secured to his harness...which probably looks like a whole lot of god-knows-what to Jude. He raises his hand in a half wave.]

Jude, right? [He's only ever seen him though the journal, so just checking that he's got the right guy. Could be waiting out here like a schoolgirl for somebody else.]

[Meanwhile, Marco will work on finishing his soup. He's just fine with that, because even Haruka's soup is different from what he's used to. It's really salty, but it tastes good.

He casts a quick, sideways glance at Jean at those words, then shakes his head.]

Hhm, but it's described in books. Some people believe it's really out there.

[People like Armin, that is. He's told Marco stories, back during their days of training. Stories of oceans, lands of ice and lands of sand. Could their world really be that diverse? He wants to believe it, especially after seeing a real ocean in Luceti.]

[It definitely does, which is why Jude just eyes him curiously as he approaches.]

Yep, that's me. Thanks for coming, Jean. [He peers back down from Jean's face to the 3DMG.] But, uh... What is that?

I said I'd come, and I'm a man of my word.

[Seeing where Jude is looking, he sets a hand on top of one of the bulky sheathes.] My weapon, the one I told you about. [Except he didn't, really, beyond saying he fought with a weapon of some sort.] It'll make more sense when you see it in action.

[Technology had seemed pretty foreign to them, just based on his observations... namely Jean's fabulous time with the blender and his sausage. He supposes trains or planes aren't really a Thing there. He doesn't particularly want to pry any further.

Haruka's attention returns to his food; he's exhausted his conversation starter quota for the night.]

[He's trying some more of the vegetables, the ones that look like weird flowers. And if Haruka doesn't want to keep up the conversation, he's just gonna turn to Marco, still chewing his food.]

That's why I said "as far as anyone knows". You can put anything you want into a book, doesn't make it true.

[Jean's argument doesn't really faze Marco. The world is much, much bigger than what they've seen inside the walls. Even if the things described in books aren't real, other things might be. Maybe if he'd spent a little more time listening to Armin's stories, Jean would believe it too.]

The walls are only a little over a hundred years old. Documents from before that time are probably accurate. [It's just too bad that documents and books like that are considered contraband.]

[He didn't say anything about bulky hip boxes and blades...!]

I can't even imagine what that all does right now, so I'm looking forward to seeing it. It looks kind of complex...

[A beat.] Anyway, do you know how to get the simulation working...? I haven't come here myself until now, so I have no clue how it all works.

She looks down, musing over this for a few moment.

"Ah, so this is to track if one warrants gifts. That does make the whole act of generosity seem a bit less impressive."
