[She's still exhausted from the past few days, but she can at least get started on the molding for it... It takes her a couple of seconds, but she steps out to the front from the smithy so that she can 'greet' him. She's a little pink, clearly nervous over what's going to happen. He'd probably notice those bags under her eyes, too. Not that she cares.]

May I see them?

[He notes the dark circles under her eyes, but he doesn't say anything. That's what got him in trouble last time, and for once he'll try to cause as little friction as possible.]

Uh...yeah. Sure. [He reaches into his jacket to take one of the operating grips out of its holster. Pressing it against the base of one of the blades stored in the sheath, he pulls the blade out and, firmly gripping it by the dull edge, releases it from its hilt. He'll return the grip to its holster and shift his hold on the naked blade so that he's holding it out to her on flattened palms. It's flat and square, the tip cut at a diagonal.]

[What a strange device. She frowns at it, looking it over every which way - subtly using her magic to determine the metal composition and why it's like that. It takes a few seconds for her to nod.]

I will need to take this for at least seven days in order to form the mold for it. Then I can work on creating more, and you can take the original back.

[After a beat she sighs, closing her eyes and feeling her face heating up.]

The other day... Were you attempting to... That is to say... Did you want to befriend me, Jean?

[Who's embarrassed she isn't embarrassed if anyone is embarrassed it's Jean he's a total embarrassment not that she minds.]

[Properties worth noting: the steel is extremely hardened, as one would expect from an instrument that needs to slice through thick flesh, but the blade manages to be extremely flexible at the same time.]

[And then the next thing out of her mouth catches him by surprise. He raises an eyebrow.]

...Huh? [Is she seriously asking that? And what's with the red face?] Well, I sure wasn't trying to be your enemy.

... I have never had friends, before. But I would be willing to attempt.

[...Everything about her suddenly makes so much more sense. Although, does the weird personality cause the lack of friends, or does the lack of friends cause the weird personality? Chicken and egg.]

Aren't you mad at me about what happened last week? I'm surprised you're even willing to do me this favor, to be honest.

[Jean you really know how to ruin a good thing. She's tense, her eye twitching as she feels her face heating up even more (yep here comes tomato-face).]

Being cross with you does not free me from the responsibility of my word. I said I would craft duplicates of your blades for you, and that is exactly what I am going to do.

... I will admit to already having been upset before you spoke with me. You were not entirely at fault for what happened.

[He's quick to straighten up and try to mitigate her annoyance. Shit...he normally wouldn't care this much, but she is helping him out, and maybe he feels like he owes her for making her cry.]

Sorry, sorry, didn't mean any offense. I'm really grateful, alright? I mean it.

If you really want to...yeah, I'll be your friend. Why the hell not? [Like he told her before, he doesn't need a reason.]

[Well at least he said that. She relaxes a bit, expression softer as she looks up at him. Was he always so tall? She doesn't know, but she's really noticing it then.]

You don't have to thank me. [People don't normally thank someone for agreeing to be friends with them. You just kinda...let it be. But he'll bite back this bit of honesty.

So what was the commission you had to do before mine? Just asking.

[For an instant she's hesitant, but she does lift her wrist to show the bracelet of blue beads - lapis lazuli. Holding them up, the etchings of beautiful feathers on each bead catch in the light.]

[It's still so foreign to say, but she's starting to feel that it's less and less of a bad thing.]

[Jean glances over the bracelet. He's never paid much attention to jewelry (come on, he's not a girl), but he can appreciate it for its fineness - he's never seen anything like it, really.]

Look at you, making friends left and right.

[The comment makes her a little tense and she shakes her head, rubbing the back of her head when she mutters.] Not because I asked, he just said we were...

...You look like you should get some rest. [If they're friends, he should be able to say this without her flipping out over it.]

[Thankfully, he gets a rather calm sigh instead. No reason to bite his head off over it, and Aang had said similar things earlier...]

Good. [Look, this is a little smile.] I'll get out of your hair, then.

[And he turns to go, with a wave in lieu of saying good-bye.]

[She nods, considerably more relaxed than when he first came in. Time to close up for the day and explore the town a bit, then...]
