[Classic incognito message, with the picture blocked out and everything; he even makes an attempt to disguise his handwriting, which he forgets after the first three words.]

Say you want to ask a girl out. How do you go about doing that?

Girls like flowers, right?

[See, there's actually a lot of consideration that goes into this. For a guy with a faulty brain-to-mouth filter and a do-or-die attitude, the amount of waffling here is...strange, maybe. But everyone's a walking contradiction. He has some ideas, along with maybe ten different speeches that he's mentally mapped out over the past three years and never planned on actually using, but second- and third-guessing himself leads to this pandering for advice...thing. He's pretty sure it's lame, but... It couldn't hurt, right?

Okay, so maybe he's just procrastinating.]

[Anonymous dweebiness aside, Jean goes about his day as usual. Training at the Battle Dome; going to school; taking care of his horse at the stables, and taking him out for a ride into the woods; and checking the General Store for some...supplies, art supplies. Don't ask, don't tell.]

Crap I didn't even think about that. I have no idea and I'm guessing it would be weird to ask.

Flowers are a very important part. But that is only a first and very basic step!!!

Not all girls are won over by flowers, candy and mushy stuff. If you really want to ask a girl out, just ask her out! You don't need to try sucking up to her with gifts.

And if you have to do the gift thing, make sure it's something she actually likes. Don't get her a dress if she doesn't like wearing them, or anything like that!

Depends on the girl. Some love them, some loathe them.

But asking someone out. Is she someone you've known for awhile and are good friends with? Someone that's more of an acquaintance? Or someone you've seen around the village but never talked to before?

And if they fall into the third category, don't ask them out.

[For some reason, Jean can't help but feel dubious whenever this guy is involved. But if Lee has one thing going for him, it's that his heart tends to be in the right place. Wow is he embarrassing, though. (Like Jean is one to talk...)]

[Reasons why he went anonymous: it halves the awkwardness of receiving dating advice from the girl he got his first kiss from. But half of a lot is still...well, enough.]

I'm not going to ask out someone I don't even know, that's just creepy. [He almost writes, "What kind of guy do you think I am?" but, right, anonymous.] I've known her for a while and I guess you could say we're friends.

[It's a valiant attempt, but to someone used to forging documents or working with forgers, it's obvious. The forced changes in letters that become inconsistent, an attempt to write in a different style that only leaves letters sloppy or unnatural. Ginia really can't blame him for trying to hide his identity.

So to save Jean's pride, Ginia doesn't say anything.]

Then is she someone that would like flowers? And have you given thought on what to do for a date? I can't tell you what flowers or presents I got on a date. I can tell you what we did and how the dates went. Memories [good or bad, though Ginia doesn't write that because she doesn't want to discourage him] always trump flowers or rote gifts.

If you want to try to be nice, just be yourself. That should be enough, shouldn't it? As for other mushy stuff, that's really the worst I can think of. Well, aside from cheesy pick-up lines.

[She'd probably be slightly nicer if she knew this was Jean, but who knows? She's always been a little offbeat when it comes to romance. ~~it comes with the territory of being in love with the idealized fantasy of a prince, okay~~]

I don't know why you would, but it happened to me once. Funny thing, it was the same guy who I sent flowers of my own to, once. But it was because he was hurt ~~on my account~~, and that's it! [Utena's hoping she scribbled out that one bit well enough, but it can still be read somewhat.] Anyway, you just don't want to come on too strongly.

[Yes, he remembers the conversation about drawing Jeb's girlfriend. This is very obviously a dumb filler question whose sole purpose is to stave off having to talk about what the hell he's doing here too.]

I am! My muse has been really strong lately. I think part of it can be credited to my roommate acting normally again, though.

Precisely. However, you could ask whether there have been any particular plants bothering her now that everything has bloomed. It wouldn't be too out of the question in casual conversation.

Not at all. There are lots of nice places to walk around at. By the river, the cherry trees, beach is great with the weather getting better. Maybe pack some food for a small picnic?
